During the era of Spanish colonialism, Hacienda La Gavia belonged to renowned conquistador Hernán Cortés. Its grandiose architecture housed a luxurious mix of traditional European decor and rustic furniture made by local craftsmen. Today, at La Gavia Imports, we are committed to sharing the beauty of hacienda interiors – the work of modern village artisans and old world craftsmen – with twenty first century city dwellers.
Headquartered in Austin, Texas, we began with the notion of spreading traditional Mexican artistry and home furnishings across the nation. Since then, we’ve shopped the world in far away places like India, France and Romania where the artisan tradition is thriving and once-forgotten antiques are waiting to be discovered. Our home furnishings, gifts and accessories are carefully handmade by authentic artisans – descendants of historic cultures like the Mennonites and the Mayans - and our antique collectors are continually uncovering exceptional eclectic and rustic furniture to enrich your home.
